Thomas Gerwers has been chief editor of the periodical ProfiFoto since 1990 and is an active jury member for numerous renowned photo contests such as Hasselblad Masters, Felix Schoeller Fotopreis, Geschossen + Gedruckt, Gregor Kalenderpreis, photokina meets Academy, BFF emerging photographers’ award, and many more. Thomas Gerwers’s main focus along the way is the promotion of young talents in the photography field. One fruit of his commitment in 2006 was the Canon ProfiFoto promotional award, which nowadays takes place twice annually as the ProfiFoto New Talent Award – powered by Canon – in partnership with the image agency laif and the online laboratory WhiteWall.
