Uschi Groos will receive an eight-page portfolio in the photo magazine ProfiFoto in the double issue July/
August 2021.
Uschi Groos was born in Mittelhessen, Germany. After a commercial education she studied Photography
at evening classes and many international workshops. Since the 1990s she conducts one of Germany’s
leading companies for kindergarden photography. Her work „It“ is based on that kind of work. She lives in
Germany and on La Gomera, where she runs an artist residency.
“Inspirational Frequencies” is a project that examines the enigmatic frequencies that attract artists to the island.
The intention is to capture the magical pulse of this place.
Uschi Groos will present this project in the magazineProfiFoto.
“Is there something like the primordial soup of creativity here - is it the self-fulfilling prophecy?
The cloud forest seems enchanted to me, calm and beautiful. It touches my deep senses, tickles my creativity.
I want more nature, want to feel it, immerse myself in it, melt into it. I want to sleep under the stars. I’m alive. The transmitter and receiver
have the same frequency. To inspire means to breathe in (Latin inspiratio). We breathe the smell of the ocean, the calima dust under the starry
sky, the purified air of the forest. Everything is a substance, a shared breathing space from which we draw
everything. We, the artists in La Gomera.”
