“Gossan: Mars-Mission” represents artist Joan Fontcuberta’s conception of a theme park for researching Mars: with its reddish rocks and rugged landscape, the former mining area of Rio Tinto in south-west Spain bears a striking resemblance to a Martian landscape. Amid this backdrop, Fontcuberta sketches an entertainment park that both touristically exploits the former mining area and pays a visual tribute to Mars research.
